Emergency Lighting Services

An Emergency Light is a hard wired, self maintained unit that illuminates in the event of a power cut to the lighting circuit. All devices have a battery back up pack that are automatically triggered when the power to the light fails which allows them to stay on. The batteries are kept charged via the mains wiring to the light. Emergency Lights are used to light up emergency escape routes including, change of direction, change of levels, stairways and final points inside and outside.

They also prevent you from being isolated in complete darkness and avoid obstacles in the event of a power failure. It is legislation that the building has constant lighting to these escape routes and emergency exits so people can evacuate quickly and methodically in the case of an emergency.

Emergency Light systems should be tested by an engineer annually, to ensure the battery back ups for each unit can provide 3hrs of illumination when the mains power is disconnected.
